New Windows 11 Build 25915 – New 23H2 Features, Taskbar Changes, and Fixes in the Canary Channel

In this article, we will talk about the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build for the Canary Channel, which is Build 25915.

New Features from the Dev Channel

Microsoft is adding some more features from Windows 11 23H2, such as the New File Explorer, the Passwordless Improvements, the Never Combine Taskbar Icons, Windows Copilot, and also the Native support for 7zip and rar archives.

Outlook is now an Inbox App

Starting with this build, the new Outlook for Windows Preview is now an inbox app. With the new Outlook for Windows, you can connect work and personal emails, calendars, and contacts in one secure place. Graphics

  • Microsoft have improved refresh rate logic to allow different refresh rates on different monitors, depending on the refresh rate for each monitor and content shown on the screen. This will help most with refresh rate-dependent multitasking, like playing a game and watching a video at the same time.
  • While a Dynamic Refresh Rate (DRR) is selected and Battery saver is also enabled, Windows will remain at the lower refresh rate and not switch to the higher rate until after Battery saver is disabled.

New Presence Sensing Option in OOBE

Microsoft is also adding a New Presence Sensing Option in OOBE in Windows 11 25915.

Uninstall Remote Desktop Connection

Starting with Build 25915, you can now uninstall the Remote Desktop Connection App. You can still enable Remote Desktop in settings and remote into the machine.

Enable Touchpad Icon on Taskbar

The setting to enable/disable the Touchpad Icon is missing in Build 25915.

Workaround (discovered by XenoPanther): Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Touchpad and create a DWORD called TouchpadDesiredVisibility and set it to 1 to enable the virtual touchpad and 0 to disable it.

Fixes in this Build

  • The issue that resulted in some Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on ASUS devices or PCs with ASUS motherboards has been resolved and these Insiders should receive this flight.
  • Ethernet-connected devices will no longer lose network connectivity after updating to this build.
