In this article, we will discuss the End of Support for Windows 10 and what are your options after Windows 10 won’t receive updates anymore.
Microsoft is ending the support for Windows 10 in 2025, to be more exact on October 14. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date. Existing LTSC releases will continue to receive updates beyond that date based on their specific lifecycles.
After this date, Microsoft will no longer send Security Patches and Feature Updates for Windows 10.
You are now left with 2 options if you still use Windows 10. Either upgrade to Windows 11, which can be a bit tricky, if you don’t have a compatible computer, but you can check this article, if you want to upgrade on an unsupported computer.
There is also another option, where you can still receive updates for up to 1 year, by buying the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10.
The Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program gives customers the option to receive security updates for PCs enrolled in the program. ESU is a paid program that provides individuals and organizations of all sizes with the option to extend the use of Windows 10 devices past the end of support date in a more secure manner.
For individuals or Windows 10 Home customers, Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 will be available for purchase at $30 for one year.
