In this article, we will talk about the latest Windows 11 24H2 Build on the Release Preview Channel, and what issues you can encounter if you install it.
To better understand how Microsoft enables New Features, you need to know that Microsoft uses an A/B Testing System, which basically enables certain Features IDs for some users and for all at the same time.
This ensures that they can fix certain issues that can come up and later on, gradually enable those Features for all users.
In the latest Build from the Release Preview Channel, which is a Feature Update, there is an ID that combined with the Features ID which enables all the New things from the Build, completely breaks windows.
This will most likely happen if you already had a previous Build from the Release Preview Channel, and you didn’t Clean Install it.
With that ID enabled, explorer.exe will completely crash and restart every few seconds, with System parts such as Task Manager or File Explorer being reverted to the old interface.

If you are among the unlucky ones who have this issue, I will show you how to fix it.
How to Setup Vivetool and Fix this Build
First of all, use the keyboard combination CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open Task Manager. Then go to File and Run New Task.
Then type cmd.exe and check Create this task with administrative privileges.

Inside CMD, type the command start msedge to open Microsoft Edge.

In Microsoft Edge, search for Vivetool or access this link and then make sure to Download the latest version from Github for Intel/AMD.

After you download ViveTool, you will need to extract the contents of the archive into a folder of your choice.
Open the archive and click on Extract all. Click on Browse and leave the Default Location (System32) and then click on Extract. You will also need to provide some administrative privileges.

After Vivetool is setup, come back to CMD and type the following command: vivetool /disable /id:55537300.

You can then use the keyboard combination ALT + F4, select Restart and then OK, to restart the system.

After the restart, everything should be back to normal.
If you didn’t install this Build yet, and don’t want to deal with any of the issues, you can go to Settings, then Windows Update and click on Pause for 1 week.
