How to Enable Auto Dark Mode in Windows 11 (Auto Theme Switch)

In this article, I will show you how to enable Auto Dark Mode in Windows 11 using a third-party app created by a developer. The app also has an Auto Theme Switching feature.

Download Auto Dark Mode from Github or Access Releases Page.

Alternatively, you can download the app from the Microsoft Store by clicking here, or just search Auto Dark Mode in the Microsoft Store and the first app that will pop up is this one.

After you install the app, you will see that the interface is very simple and minimalistic. You have the main sections in the left side and the settings in the right side.

In the Time tab, first of all, make sure to select your preferred settings for the Auto Dark Mode.

You can set custom hours that will trigger the Windows 11 theme switch, you can set the app to switch to Dark Mode From sunset to sunrise using the location settings from Windows 11 or you can set the app to switch to Dark Mode From sunset to sunrise (geographic coordinates).

You will need to click on Geo coordinates for your location and on the opened website enter your location/city. Copy the Latitude and Longitude values from there, paste them into Auto Dark Mode and then click on Apply Coordinates.

For the last 2 options, you can also set on Offset separately for the Light or Dark Theme.

In the Switch Modes tab, you can customize a few more options.

You can enable Don’t switch while playing video games. This option is useful for those of you who have a lower-end computer because this switch can consume a lot of your system resources.

For Battery powered devices, you can Enable dark mode when device is unplugged, an option that can help you increase the battery life of your device.

You can also set certain Hotkeys for the switches that are enabled.

In the Apps tab, you can customize how certain Apps will react to the Theme Switch.

You can set options for Apps in general, or the System. You can also customize Microsoft Office separately.

The App recommends that you install Dark Reader, a browser extension that makes websites in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge to respect the system theme.

In the Personalization tab, you can create a custom Wallpaper switch or a Theme Switch.

For both options, you can select custom wallpapers or themes for the light or dark theme in Windows 11.

In the Settings tab, you have a few more settings, regarding Updates and Automatic Start with Windows, options that are recommended to be enabled.

This is Auto Dark Mode for Windows 11, a useful app that can be used for further customization of the Windows Operating System.
