In this article, I will show you how to Redirect Search to the Default Browser in Windows 11. By default, even if you change your default browser in Windows 11, Internet searches will be redirected to the Edge browser. Let’s see how to change that.
Since the beginning of Windows 11, Users found ways to bypass this, but old methods no longer work on the newest Dev, Beta, and Release Preview Channel Builds of the Windows Insider Program, which means that even on the main release of Windows 11 this will be the case very soon.
The good news is that other users found ways to bypass these OS changes from Microsoft, and came up with even better solutions than the old ones.
Download MSEdgeRedirect from Github
The following script is very easy to use, so a big shoutout to the guy that created it and uploaded it to Github, rcmaehl.
To Download the Script simply click on the Download latest stable release button and then make sure to save it on your Desktop.
If you receive this message from Google Chrome “MSEdgeRedirect.exe is not commonly downloaded and may be dangerous.”, click on the arrow and then click on Keep. The app is 100% safe and you can test that for yourself.
Once you open the app, if Windows Smartscreen pops up, make sure to click on More info and then on Run anyway.
The app will start to run in the background, in the System Tray in Windows 11. Make sure to right-click on it, and then select Start With Windows and also Check for Updates, to make sure you are running the latest version of the app.
Now if you try to search into the Windows 11 Search, everything you search online, will be redirected to your default browser in Windows 11.
