New Windows 11 Build 22635.4660 – New Settings Design, New File Explorer Snap Assist and more (Beta)

In this article, we will talk about the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build for the Beta Channel, which is Build 22635.4660.

Microsoft is making some changes to the Beta Channel:

  • They will no longer release 2 different builds for the Beta Channel, and everyone will now be on the same build
  • Insiders who want all the new features will need to toggle on the get the latest updates as they are available setting in Windows Update
  • Features will be tested in 2 different ways: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available and then new features, improvements, and fixes gradually rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. 

New Context Menu Labels

To make it easier to use the File Explorer context menu, labels have been added to previously unlabeled actions such as cut, copy, paste, rename, share, and delete.

New Magnifier Buttons

In addition to the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + Minus to quickly toggle between the current zoom and 1X zoom introduced with Build 22635.4515, we have also added buttons in Magnifier to reset zoom to fit to screen and reset zoom to your last/preferred magnification.

Suggested Actions Deprecated

Suggested actions that appear when you copy a phone number or future date in Windows 11 are now deprecated. With this build, we’re beginning to disable the feature.

New Settings About Page Cards

Windows 11’s About settings page is getting new top cards that highlight key specs such as storage, graphics memory and RAM.

New Spotlight Desktop Icon

Microsoft is experimenting with an updated Desktop Spotlight icon and dynamic text below it that’s related to the current image instead of just “Learn about this picture”.

New Snap Assist Improvements

The snap assist discoverability messages/hints are looking better in the latest Beta CU, the glyphs now appear properly.

Fixes in this Build

File Explorer

  • Fixed a few issues impacting File Explorer performance and reliability.
