In this article, we will talk about some New Windows 11 Start Menu Designs That Won’t Be Released.
In a recent post from the Microsoft Design Team, they revealed 5 of the tested designs for the Windows 11 Start Menu. All of them are pretty different and contributed to the final design that will be released to the Main Release later this year.
A first design, includes a For you left side-bar which allows you to see Microsoft Teams chats or meetings, Microsoft Office Apps and Copilot Notifications. In the center, you have different App Categories, with Recent and other.
At the bottom there was also a Create button, which most likely allowed you to create your own custom sections in the Start Menu.

The second design, contains different sections with rounded corners, with the Search Box at the top, Pinned Apps in the center and the For you Section at the bottom, with no Microsoft Account integration or Shutdown buttons.

The third design look pretty similar to the Widgets Section, with a left side-bar that has the Start, My Apps and the Create button. Below there is also the Phone Integration section.
In the center at the top, we have the For you section, a pinned project below and some pinned Shortcuts at the buttom.

The fourth design is pretty minimalistic, with little to no rounded corners. In the left side-bar you have App categories, in the right My pins and below recently opened files.
At the bottom, we have the Microsoft Account Button, Settings and the Shutdown button.

The fifth design is pretty different as it blurs out everything behind it, opening full screen. It contains sections with rounded corners for the Pinned Apps, Create and For you.

The final design that will be released this year is the best in my opinion. You have the Search Box at the top, Pinned Apps and the Recommended Section which can be disabled.
Below you have the All Apps Section with different views and the Phone Sidebar in the right, with a toggle button directly in the Start.
The Start Menu can also be customized if you go into Start Settings.
