In this article, we will talk about the recent rumours related to Windows 12 being the successor to Windows 11 in 2026.
Recently there have been a few New Articles from recent blogs that state Windows 12 is Coming in 2026 as a replacement for Windows 11.
I can state from the beginning that those articles are clickbait and fake as Windows 12 is nowhere near of being released and not even at a discussion phase.
To know more about the Future of Windows in general, we can look at the Windows Insider Program which is testing the latest Beta Builds from Microsoft.
We have the Release Preview Channel which is pretty similar to the Main Release, users on that channel are just receiving the Updates 1 or 2 weeks earlier than others.
The Dev and Beta Channels will be previewing Builds for the Major Release in 2026 which will be 26H2 and it will be based of the same platform as 25H2 and 24H2.
The Canary Channel is where things get a bit confusing, because it is split into 2.
One part is for Windows 11 26H1, which is a Windows 11 Version Released only for the New X2 Snapdragon Devices released this year.
The other part though is previewing builds for the next Windows 11 Platform, Krypton, which will be a New Major Release for Windows 11 in 2027, most likely 27H2.
So as far as we officially know, Microsoft is not planning to release another Windows Version anytime soon.
There have been Insider Reports that Microsoft is only debating if Windows 11 will have a successor or not.
