New Windows 11 26H2 Performance Boost Feature (Faster App Launches)

In this article, we are covering a recently announced Feature from the Release Preview Channel of Windows 11 26H2, which aims to make App Launches Faster in Windows 11.

This New Feature, was announced in the latest Release Preview Channel Build, which is the Build 26300.9807 and what is interesting is that Microsoft hasn’t at least officially test it in any Experimental Channel Build and we’re getting it directly in Release Preview, with the possible launch for Main Release in about a week time.

This is what Microsoft has officially announced:

[Microsoft Edge on Windows]

  • New! This update introduces accelerated app launches that make opening Microsoft Edge feel faster and more consistent. When you select a link or open Edge from the taskbar or Start menu while Edge is already running in the background, Windows now routes your request directly to the running instance instead of first starting an extra, temporary process. Removing that step shortens the launch path, so Edge responds more quickly, most noticeably on busy devices when you’re multitasking. This is the first step in a broader Windows capability that any app can adopt to speed up its own launches.

This is actually pretty big news, as Microsoft is hinting at their goals for the next few months and how they want to achieve better performance in Windows 11 26H2.

By basically using an already existing process of a certain app, mostly in multitasking scenarios, Windows 11 will make App Launches faster for most apps that use multiple instances.

In this first preview, they are mentioning Microsoft Edge and I am sure that this will be expanded to other apps as well in the near future.
