You can now Reorder Tabs in File Explorer in Windows 11 22581

In this article, we will talk about some more news about the Tabs in Windows 11 File Explorer and more info that you need to know.

Tabs in File Explorer, first made their appearance in Windows 11 Build 22572 for the Dev Channel, as a hidden feature that could be enabled using ViveTool. If you are interested in enabling Tabs in File Explorer make sure to check this article from the website.

Since then, a few Builds were launched by Microsoft and the Tabs feature has been on and off in these Builds. The feature is still not officially announced by Microsoft and it could take some time until that will be the case.

In the first Build that the Tabs appeared, you couldn’t do anything else than open and close new tabs in Explorer.

In Build 22581, if you manually enable the feature you will see that you can now reorder tabs in Explorer. The option is kinda delayed and not really reliable, but it’s good for starters.

The good news is that Microsoft is continuously working on this feature and hopefully by the time they officially announce it, the feature will be as reliable as possible.
